We prove that any real-analytic, volume-preserving action of a lattice Γ in a simple Lie group with Q-rank(Γ) ≥ 7 on a closed 4-manifold of nonzero Euler characteristic factors through a finite group action.

Local rigidity of certain partially hyperbolic actions of product type
We prove certain rigidity properties of higher-rank abelian product actions of the type α × Id N : Z κ → Diff(M × N), where α is (TNS) (i.e. is hyperbolic and has some special structure of its stable distributions). Together with a result about product actions of property (T) groups, this implies the local rigidity of higher-rank lattice actions of the form α × Id T : → Diff(M × T), provided α ...
متن کاملA Geometry Preserving Kernel over Riemannian Manifolds
Abstract- Kernel trick and projection to tangent spaces are two choices for linearizing the data points lying on Riemannian manifolds. These approaches are used to provide the prerequisites for applying standard machine learning methods on Riemannian manifolds. Classical kernels implicitly project data to high dimensional feature space without considering the intrinsic geometry of data points. ...
متن کاملConformal mappings preserving the Einstein tensor of Weyl manifolds
In this paper, we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for a conformal mapping between two Weyl manifolds to preserve Einstein tensor. Then we prove that some basic curvature tensors of $W_n$ are preserved by such a conformal mapping if and only if the covector field of the mapping is locally a gradient. Also, we obtained the relation between the scalar curvatures of the Weyl manifolds r...
متن کاملGroups Not Acting on Manifolds
In this article we collect a series of observations that constrain actions of many groups on compact manifolds. In particular, we show that “generic” finitely generated groups have no smooth volume preserving actions on compact manifolds.
متن کاملLocal Rigidity of Hyperbolic 3-manifolds after Dehn Surgery
It is well known that some lattices in SO(n, 1) can be nontrivially deformed when included in SO(n+1, 1) (e.g., via bending on a totally geodesic hypersurface); this contrasts with the (super) rigidity of higher rank lattices. M. Kapovich recently gave the first examples of lattices in SO(3, 1) which are locally rigid in SO(4, 1) by considering closed hyperbolic 3-manifolds obtained by Dehn fil...
